The following letter was sent to Maynardville.Com by an unknown source. We print it here with permission of the Williams family. The part below the line is by myself. -Chip Williams' Family Morals-TAKE II I must confess that after the 1st e-mail on this subject, my first thought was to do nothing, as so many of us are guilty of doing. We read or hear instances taken out of context, that have new meaning, when it couldn't be further from the truth. We all read the bad stuff, so shouldn't we all read the good. Eddie Williams has political enemies due to his consideration of all children's education, instead of a select few. Some people in this county are accustomed to the school board members voting to benefit a small group of people, instead of all our children. Sorry you won't get that here. I remember a new teacher, who was from out-of-state, being hired, and when failed to read the medial history on a student, she instructed him to run laps until she told him to stop. This student fell ill because of a lung condition and certain people were crying for her to be fired. But Eddie Williams said to give her another chance, because he felt she had learned her lesson from this experience. Who was this child-HIS OWN SON!. Don't hide behind innuendoes if you don't know the facts. There are thousands of examples where Eddie could be found doing things like this. As for the Williams' children, (nieces and nephews) receiving special treatment, such as straight A's, I've been associated with two of their sisters for many years and they seem to feel their children have to work harder for equal treatment because of their brothers. One niece, Jenny Wenger, didn't make the cheerleading squad her first year, so she took gymnastics for the next year and tried out again. She is also being tutored three nights a week so she can pass Algebra II. One nephew, A. J. Bennett, sat on the bench for two years, until he finally got to start his 8th grade year in basketball. Now as for Tommy Williams at MES; Mr. Williams discovered his niece had written the word "cookie" on the bathroom door. Although this was a first offence, she had to attend Saturday School and scrub the door with a toothbrush. What about Tommy taking 3 vacations in one year? His parents were able to help him do this just in case the worse happened. What parents do you know wouldn't do anything for their children? Also, Mr. Williams discovered one of his students was not going to be able to attend the Prom, because he couldn't afford a suit. Mr. Williams had a suit brought to school from his own home. The student attended the dance in Tommy's suit and had the time of his life. Go Mr. Williams! As is the case with Eddie, there are also many of stories like this one. As for the fact that Mr. Williams' son does not attend school at MES, he wanted to make sure that he gets what he earns, not being accused of only getting it because he is the principal's son. He attends school in his district. To the person or persons who wrote those horrible innuendoes about these two fine men, you hurt their parents, wives, and most of all their children. When you lie down to sleep, think about the things in your life that a cold-hearted person could twist to have a completely different meaning. Your families could be the next to be hurt by cruel and ugly people. Be Ashamed!! Be Very Ashamed!! So Williams' Brothers stay where you are. All the people you've helped over the years need you! The following is from me Chip Brown owner of Maynardville.Com. To the Williams family, I wish to say I am very sorry for what some idiot placed on one of our message boards. Thank you for your support through this. To the Williams brothers I would like to say thank you, for both telling me that you don't blame me. That means the world to me. Long after all this disappears from this website, and from our memories, I will assure everyone that I will still be searching for the moron who did this. To the person who did this I have a couple of things to say. 1) You have shown your true personality to everyone. The friends that know you did it, are now totally aware of just what kind of person you are. 2) Tommy Williams did not take that many vacations, unless you want to count trips out of state for surgery during his illness. My mother died of cancer and I hope you never have to deal with fatal or near fatal diseases. If you had you would realize how stupid all of your statements on this subject were. I am sure that you go to church on Sunday and thump your Bible and try to convince yourself and others what a good person you are. May God have mercy on you. Chip |
