Christmas Spirits?"Chip's True Story Of the Christmas Spirit" When I was in school I worked at a local grocery store called "White Stores." We had this item called Comstock Cherry Pie filling. I never tried the stuff but It must have been good. It was our number one seasonal item in the whole store. Well, I ordered the canned goods isle. This year I didn't get enough Comstock Cherry Pie filling. I remember it was a Tuesday afternoon. There was one can left on the end cap of the isle. One lady came down one side, probably aged 40. Another lady came down the other side most likely aged 120! They both grabbed the same can, one on top, one on the bottom. Then the 40 year old lady tugged and the 120 year old lady tugged back. This went on for several seconds. The 120 year old lady called the 40 year old lady a name. The 40 year old lady drew back her pocketbook to lambast the old lady up side the head. But as she started to swing forward her purse, in a flash the 120 year old lady raised her cane and with a quick jab, she took the wind out of the 40 year old woman. Poked her right in the gut! Now with Pie Filling in hand you'd think the old woman would be happy! No! She attacked the 40 year old woman with her cane again! Finally the assistant manager, Steve Chittum came running down the isle and stepped between the two ladies. The 40 year old ran away, but the 120 year old turned her attention towards Steve. She whacked him with her purse, obviously taking a lesson from her first victim! Steve took off towards the phone to call the police. The 120 year old lady threw the can of pie filling at him, and ran out the door. Luckily the pie filling missed him and landed with a crash in the green beans. Then I swear to you, another old lady who was standing beside me watching it all, turns to me and says "I just can't believe people." Then she picks up the pie filling from the beans, places it in her buggy and finishes her shopping!
